My offerings are a form of activism

Before I dive into the 'why' behind Sam Bullingham Movement, I want to take a moment to welcome those of you who are new to our community—and to say a huge thank you to those who’ve been with me on this journey. Your support, presence, and energy mean the world, and I’m so grateful to continue evolving alongside you.
As a yoga teacher and wellness practitioner, I’ve always believed that the work I do is more than just guiding people through poses or breathwork. It’s a form of activism—a quiet rebellion against the toxic narratives we’re told to follow in our modern world. A world that tells us we should be constantly pushing, achieving, and striving. A world that often teaches us to disconnect from ourselves and from each other.
But my work is about the opposite: reconnecting, restoring, and reclaiming the things that are rightfully ours. That’s why I believe my offerings are my activism. They’re my way of creating space for women to reimagine what well-being means—and how they can embody it.
The World We Live In
The dominant culture in the Western world relentlessly pushes the idea that more is better: do more, be more, buy more, and always be growing. It promises success and happiness if we keep driving ourselves forward. But this mindset isn’t just unsustainable—it’s harming us. It’s leading to stress, burnout, anxiety, and a sense of disconnection.
We’ve been taught that our worth is tied to what we achieve, how we look, and how much we produce. As women, this pressure is even more acute. We're often told that we must prove our value, be productive, and always put others before ourselves.
But the reality is that this model isn’t working anymore. It’s outdated. And more importantly, it’s damaging. The pace of life we’ve been asked to maintain is taking a toll on our health, our relationships, and our connection to the world around us.
Reclaiming Ourselves
This is where my activism comes in. I see my work as a way of challenging that narrative, and instead, helping women reconnect to their true selves through movement, rest, and authenticity.
Movement is not just about exercise. It’s about reconnecting with our bodies in a way that feels good, that’s driven by our own pleasure—not by the external gaze or societal expectations. Movement is an opportunity to celebrate our bodies as they are, without judgment or comparison. It’s about finding joy and freedom in the act of moving, not about achieving a perfect pose or pushing through discomfort for the sake of it.
Rest is another vital piece of the puzzle. We’ve been conditioned to think that productivity equals worth, that we must always be doing something to prove we’re valuable. But true rest is an act of defiance against this narrative. Resting is powerful. It is a revolutionary act in a world that tells us to keep going, no matter the cost. Rest is not lazy; it is necessary. It allows us to recharge, to process, and to come back to ourselves with clarity and purpose.
And then there’s authenticity. We are all born with the wisdom and intuition to guide us through life, but somewhere along the way, we’ve been taught to doubt it. My activism is about creating space for women to reconnect with that deep, inner knowing. To trust themselves. To communicate openly and honestly about their needs, desires, and experiences.
When Women Heal, the World Heals
One of the core beliefs in my work is that when we support our own well-being, we support the well-being of the world. We stop judging ourselves and others. We consume less because we realize that we don’t need more to feel fulfilled. We begin to value what truly matters—connection, joy, and well-being. And when we embrace that, we can show up for each other, for the world, and for our planet in ways that are sustainable and kind.
It’s not just about individual well-being. It’s about the ripple effect we create when we take care of ourselves and live from a place of authenticity. When women stand in their power, the world shifts. We lead from a place of wisdom, compassion, and clarity. We teach others how to honour their own cycles, needs, and desires. This is how we create a new world—one that values rest as much as action, joy as much as achievement, and connection as much as productivity.
My Offerings Are My Activism
When I step into a class, guide a retreat, or create content for my community, I’m not just offering a yoga class or a wellness workshop. I’m offering space for women to heal, to reconnect with themselves, and to learn to trust their own wisdom.
Through movement, breath, and stillness, we have the power to transform. We can let go of what no longer serves us, embrace the cyclical nature of our bodies, and honour the rhythms that sustain us.
This is what I believe in: that we can create a world that values our whole selves, where rest and joy are just as important as ambition and achievement.
My offerings are my way of contributing to this world. They are my activism in action.
If you’re ready to join me in this movement of healing, authenticity, and connection, I’d love to have you in my next class, offering, or 1:1 space. Let’s create a world together that celebrates the wisdom within each of us.
With love,
Sam
